Gordie Sampson talks about what happens when you write a number 1 hit for Luke Bryan

What happens when you write a number 1 song for a mega country star like Luke Bryan?  Well, the man who penned Knockin’ Boots, Gordie Sampson says “there’s a lot of bourbon and whiskey involved.”  Sampson, who celebrated his birthday on Thursday was guest recently on Maritime Centre Stage and told me the tradition in Nashville is to throw a number 1 party for the songwriter when a single goes to number 1.  Check out more in the clip below.

Gordie also shared the inside story on Tenille Townes’ hit Jersey On The Wall.  The song was inspired by Tenille’s visit to a highschool in New Brunswick.  It’s since earned Gordie, Tenille and their co-writer Tina Parol a CCMA nomination for songwriters of the year.
