Joe Pavelski breaks the internet… and his face.
The NHL playoffs kicked off last night and San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski earned the C on his jersey when he scored the opening goal by way of one timer, off his face.
Pavelski immediately left the ice and according to reports, arena staff searched for his tooth on the ice during commercial breaks. While there’s no update on whether or not they found it, Pavelski did return to the game. Sporting a partial face-mask that protected his lower jaw and mouth the Sharks captain finished the game and led his team to a game 1 victory over the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Needless to say, Pavelski’s actions exemplify what people love about hockey: the tough-never-say-die-do-anything-to-win attitude that only the best players exhibit. Have a look below at the videos, pictures and internet reaction to Joe Pavelski’s game 1 heroics.
