SJA Connect is a youth health, safety and leadership development program for young people aged 14 to 18 offered by St. John Ambulance Canada. It is designed to improve the health, safety, confidence and competencies of youth through training, volunteer service and leadership opportunities. Our goal is to assist youth in developing personal life-long health and safety habits and to become confident community leaders.
This leadership certificate program prepares youth to assist others in their communities during emergencies and disasters, and engage them through volunteerism in community projects, enabling them to develop a greater sense of community. It also provides youth the opportunities to connect with their community and build skills employers are looking for.
At the end of the program, youth leaders will receive a SJA Connect Youth Leadership Certificate, a First Aid Certificate and diverse leadership skills. Below is a list of sessions included in Level One:
- SJA In Canada
- Why Volunteer
- Team Building
- Conflict Resolution
There are three levels of leadership in SJA Connect, each level offering a diverse set of workshops or projects for youth.
