The Newcomer Experience–A One Book One Island Program
One Book One Island has returned to PEI libraries. This year’s selected book, Ru by Kim Thúy, features the themes of immigration and the re-telling of personal experiences. On May 3, at 10:30 a.m. the Confederation Centre Public Library will celebrate OBOI and the newcomer experience. Join us at the library to hear personal experiences of newcomers and enjoy videos from the Canadian Museum of Immigration’s digital storytelling gallery that tell stories of the diverse immigration experience.

Rudy Croken will launch his book, "Ban the Automobile: Instrument of Death" Saturday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Confederation Centre Public Library. Croken's book, told through the voices and letters of Island politicians and every day Islanders, traces the story of the automobile from its arrival on the Island, until it was fully recognized and granted the “Freedom of the Roads.”

Hospice PEI is participating in the 15th Annual Hike for Hospice Palliative Care which will be held on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. There will be hundreds of sites across Canada taking part in this fund raiser to kick off Hospice Palliative Care Week. The PEI Hike will be held in Summerside.
